The Internet Gambling Regulation Enforcement Act that for a time had devastating effects for many online casinos is being hammered by many sources and will be given another hearing soon in the House of Representatives in the US Congress. The American Banking Association and the Competitive Enterprise Institute have both denounced the current law due to its unintended consequences. The banking group does not like the idea of becoming part of the enforcement of the UIGEA and the competitive organization is concerned that this law is disrupting the American banking system.
Many of the representatives in the House have signed on to ending this law and setting up a system for regulating online gaming in the United States. Many online casinos have already stated they would love that, as it would open the US market without the fraud that is going on now in order for Americans to continue playing at online casinos.
The US congress never seems to move fast and this change in the law may take a new President to get it into law. The US needs the money that this would generate which by some accounts would be the billions. The result of this change could mean that the players at online casinos could see an avalanche of new American players.
