Playboy company profits slump

The Playboy Company is going through some hard times. The magazine, which still exceeds the reading amount of competition by the likes of Esquire, GQ, and Mens journal combined is losing readers to online magazines. Print costs and packaging are also rising affecting profits. The long term tobacco firm who have been advertsing with them for years has dropped advertsining RJ Reynolds. Advertising revenue will definitely drop as soon as this tobacco company pulls out. Playboy shares slumped by 6.5%

Christie Hefner, Hugh Heffner's daughter commented that "We're working through some difficult transition issues and laying the groundwork for the future," she said. Playboy are thinking of many things to make a come back including men's aftershave featuring the new logo and a sports gear clothing range Playboy Physical. Last year profits were down but they had many overheads on new developments such as the new mansion being built in Macau and so on. Playboy aren’t dead but just readjusting to modern times.
