Antigua, one of the jewel islands of the Caribbean has warned the United States that unless there is a settlement of the legal problem between Antigua and the US government with regard to the gambling restrictions, they will not abide by many of the other agreements that are now in force between them. The biggest one would be the suspending intellectual property rights. If this were to happen, piracy of all types of intellectual property could run rampant on this island paradise. The threat was worded that a new agreement has to be in force by the end of March. The government of Antigua is playing hardball and trying to protect the online casino businesses that have made this Caribbean getaway their home. The enforcement of the US law that makes it difficult to fund or withdraw from an online casino is at the heart of this dispute.
This is just another facet of the gathering forces that are trying to remove this law from the online casino scene that is killing American play at online casinos. The enforcement of this law is already running into many ways to get around the move to stop online gaming. This law was an amendment to a last minute bill that passed in the US Congress at the very end of the 2006 legislative year. Gamblers are rooting for the little guy in this legal dispute.
