Ladbrokes see sharp drop in retail betting

Popular betting shop company Ladbrokes has seen a big drop in its retail betting sector.  Ladbrokes saw a bad start to the year in retail betting as bad weather kept players at home.  Ladbrokes has also lagged behind its rival William Hill recently.  The CEO of ladbrokes commented “There’s no doubt that it is an extremely competitive environment and I think that in both the offline and online arena we can see a clear case for Ladbrokes needing to regain its primacy.”  Ladbrokes have 2,750 betting shops and revenue has fallen 6% with an 11% drop in retail.  Overall Ladbrokes are reporting much higher profits overall due to the their move to Gibraltar earlier on in the year which William Hill have also move to due to the much better tax opportunities.
