Hopefully Mount Obama in Antigua will help online casino casino industry

Antigua officially renamed its highest mountain “Mount Obama” after US president Obama, Antigua based online gambling operators hope this will bring a change in attitude to Antigua around online gambling from the US.  The mountain “Mount Obama” is 1300 feet above sea level and was previously called “Boggy Peak” I think personally “Mount Obama” is a much nicer sounding name.  

There is an inscription at the bottom of the mountain saying ”Mount Obama, named in honor of the historical election on Nov. 4, 2008, of Barack Hussein Obama, the first black president of the United States of America, as a symbol of excellence, triumph, hope and dignity for all people.”  For years Antigua has been fighting a constant battle with the USA over US violations of the free trade act between Antiguas online gambling companies based in Antigua.  US bans of online gambling sites has put more financial strain on Antigua an already struggling country.  If the US took a more lenient approach with Antigua it could really boost their economy and they are hoping that “Mount Obama” should help aid their relationship with one another.

What will happen to the online casino industry if the likes of Sheldon Adelson get involved

The online casino industry has been around for a good ten years now but the likes of Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn the men behind the creation of the Las Vegas strip, have not got involved yet. What will happen when they do?

When the online casino industry first got started Party Gaming and Intercasino were the main people involved now there is thousands of online casinos. The big players of Las Vegas land casinos have not yet got involved and when they do the online casino industry is set to change. There have been talks of Harrahs getting involved and are currently working on their online casino creation. Whether they dominate the whole industry like they do in the land casino business is not yet certain. Fears for many casino online operators is that the budgets and credit they work with will be hard to compete with and their strong branding is sure to attract many punters. When talking to online gamblers they are hoping for fantastic graphics with amazing casino lobbies which can be walked around with an avatar like in the world second life. This is what they want them to create this will allow online gambling to take on a whole new form, whether or not this will actually happen is not certain. Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn have not pushed hard to get involved in the online industry but stuck with what the know best the land casinos plus they currently have their work cut out for them with the turning of Macau into the next Las Vegas over the past couple of years and Sheldon Adelson now talking of creating a huge casino strip in India to rival Macau and Vegas. We are certainly in interesting times and the online gaming industry is on the brink of computer technology.
