Philip Green of BHS is considering buying casino Les Ambassadeurs in Mayfair

Billionaire Philip Green of BHS is considering purchasing Les Ambassadeurs high roller casino in Mayfair for £20 million less than what the current owner Mr Sampoerna paid for it.  Philip Green is a regular player at Les Ambassedeurs casino and wants to buy it with the current owner of Newcastle football club.  Philip Green last christmas played high roller roulette and won big costing the casino £3 million.  Since Philip Greens winning and other losses the casino has showed a drop in profits causing the lower sale price.  Sheldon Adelson is said to be interested now in purchasing Les Ambassadeurs maybe he will put high roller slots in the casino like he has done in Macau and Vegas which has been very popular.  Ambassedeurs has always been a casino with no slots as typically UK high roller casinos don’t have slots but maybe Adelson will change it.

Famous High Rollers

There are many high rollers in the world today and there have been many high rollers in the past but few as memorable as the names below.  Starting with probably the biggest high roller of all time Kerry Packer who you may have thought would have died with huge casino debts but quite the opposite leaving a fortune of several billions for his son to inherit and take over the family business.  We will be covering three famous high rollers each week but none will beat Packer.

Kerry Packer

Kerry Packer famous for going on a high roller losing streak in London losing $28 million in a few weeks in London’s high roller casinos.  He won $33 million australian another time when in the MGM grand in Vegas a huge win!  Sure that made up for the loss in London.  There are many comical high roller related stories involving Kerry Packer and casino tables one which I always remember is when in casino an oil tycoon bragged of his wealth being $60 million Kerry Packer took out a coin and said to him toss you for it!

Greektown land casino in Detroit has high roller slots introduced

Greektown casino in Detroit has been falling behind most other land casinos in the area in terms of revenue and growth, though a new refurbishment recently undergone there will hopefully pull it back on the road to being a big contender to the competition.

The refurbishment undergone there is external to with roads created to make easier access to the casino and for the last year or so has left the roads blocked reducing access to the casino but suddenly all will be revealed in the near future.  The gaming floor in the land casino has been extended by 33% and huge number of new slot machines introduced as well as high roller slots.  This year the casino is expected to lose $15 million as a result of the cost of refurbishment and limited access to the casino but should make this back very soon.

Fuel prices stopping high rollers gambling at land casinos

High rollers make up 75% of casino income

Casinos both online and land casinos make up the majority of their income from high rollers.  Casino destination Macau sees regular high rollers drop $100,000 a visit and these players are what make up the three quarters of the income there.  Macau unlike Vegas takes the majority of its income from tables where as vegas takes 80% of its income from slots.  Macau is making way for many more high roller slots in the next year.

High roller takes home £1.3 million at high rollers casino
