RIA Novosti a Russian news agency has reported that 1000 Russian casinos in Moscow have been closed down in an operation to move lots of Russian casinos to far flung regions in the outskirts rather than in major cities. Putin brought in this law to move Russian land casinos to the outskirts due to a saw in gambling problems amongst the Russian community. Art galleries and general stores have popped up in place of the 1000 casinos closed down something the community is happy about but not the gamblers. Russia has also seen a huge rise in online gambling with many online casinos catering for Russian players, check out our Russian online casinos page for details of the online casinos.
