Legal online casinos in Argentina

Like most of the world, Argentina is a bit tight for money so unlike the USA has mentioned regulating online gambling to draw in money to Argentina in the near future.  Less than a year ago the Argentinean government mentioned they would imprison anyone who violated the online gambling ban but now it is a different story.  Argentina’s decision about online gambling legislation will be great for the online gambling industry as a whole and hopefully more countries will follow them as a way to raise money in the recession instead of banning it like the US did.

Cryptologic online casinos unsure of Disney and Marvel

A multi million dollar purchase of Marvel entertainment by Disney has fans of Cryptologic casino wondering if their marvel online slots games will be affected by this change of hands.  Marvel has been purchased by Disney for $4 billion and what they have in store for Marvel in the future is not clear.  It is unlikely the games will be changed anytime soon as they won’t want to make any dramatic changes early on in the acquisition.  However, due to Disney being a family brand I think we can say for now that there will certainly be some changes in the future and I doubt Disney will want to stick around online gambling for too long as it doesn’t really go with their family image.

Online casino Betfair is getting set for the US return to online gambling.  Betfair is planning on making a $2.5 billion initial public offering to enter the US market when laws allow.  It is expected that the US will return to online gambling as early as the beginning of next year, which we are really hoping for.  If Betfair has the IPO it will have the most solid platform for meeting US regulatory requirements as well as conforming with the laws of different states.

Pierluigi Buccioli sets up casino auction site

Pierluigi Buccioli who sold established sportsbetting site Bookmaker’s review last week to Seven media group has set up gamblinginvest.com which he sets to become a very popular gambling domain auction site.  He came across the idea as he found no great sites for gambling domains when he started searching the net for gambling domains of his own.  He is getting affiliates with high end gambling domains to auction their domains on his site.  He will be releasing his first live auction at a casino affiliate conference in September and CAP London 2010.

Online gambling to blame for homeless greyhounds

Online gambling is being blamed by Walthamstow greyhound track owners for making the dogs homeless as punters are not attending the track much anymore but betting online instead.  Greyhounds if their owners are kind are sent to retirement greyhound kennels but this costs money, so the fate of the greyhounds is often more grizzly than this as many owners take the cheaper option.  Greyhounds are often found in reservoirs in bin bags with missing ears as the owner clipper of their identification tattoos and leave them to drown, in Spain they are often hung in the woods in masses.  Hopefuly greyhound owners will look after their dogs better in the future but allot of them think of them as a business product and when they are not making any money anymore they have to go, very sad.

Retired greyhounds are docile friendly animals which I personally had the pleasure of owning one for many years and they are great around families.  Hopefully people will get involved since the closing of the track and adopt these pets.

Ladbrokes confirms moving to Gibraltar

Ladbrokes has confirmed that it is moving its online sport betting and phone betting sections to Gibraltar.  This move has come about due to Gordon Brown’s idea to raise the gambling tax for companies like William Hill to 15% last year, where in Gibraltar they can pay 1.5%.  The move of Ladbrokes offshore will cost the UK treasury millions.  Chief Executive of Ladbrokes Christopher Bell commented”Operating from the UK has become unsustainable and we will relocate by the year end.”

Hopefully Mount Obama in Antigua will help online casino casino industry

Antigua officially renamed its highest mountain “Mount Obama” after US president Obama, Antigua based online gambling operators hope this will bring a change in attitude to Antigua around online gambling from the US.  The mountain “Mount Obama” is 1300 feet above sea level and was previously called “Boggy Peak” I think personally “Mount Obama” is a much nicer sounding name.

There is an inscription at the bottom of the mountain saying ”Mount Obama, named in honor of the historical election on Nov. 4, 2008, of Barack Hussein Obama, the first black president of the United States of America, as a symbol of excellence, triumph, hope and dignity for all people.”  For years Antigua has been fighting a constant battle with the USA over US violations of the free trade act between Antiguas online gambling companies based in Antigua.  US bans of online gambling sites has put more financial strain on Antigua an already struggling country.  If the US took a more lenient approach with Antigua it could really boost their economy and they are hoping that “Mount Obama” should help aid their relationship with one another.

Paypal getting back into online gambling

Paypal has not taken gambling payments over the last couple of years due to fear of violating laws in the US, but now Paypal has begun taking gambling payments in the UK.  Paypal seems to be setting themselves up for a US return into online gambling like many other companies seem to be doing.  One company getting ready to get back in online gambling in the US is Party Gaming who saw a fortune in only a few years come through to them through US players, which was suddenly cut short when UIGEA came in place.  They have sorted out all their legal disputes in relation to US gambling setting themselves up for online gambling payments being allowed to be accepted amongst US players and online casinos once again.
